After school child care by an outside source
JH Cross Country
New school district app we will be launching for the start of school
This is a message for all Heritage School District parents and students for Monday August 3rd, 2020 with some important updates for registration, remote learning, after school child care provided by non-school district provider, Spectrum pre-kindergarten program, junior high sports update, and a new communication tool app through Apptegy.
Registration for the 2020-2021 school year will take place at the times posted on our Heritage web site at www.heritage8.org this Wednesday and Thursday at Homer on west side of building. Due to today’s Krannert announcement, the Krannert fee will not be collected. We ask that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing during the registration process. All the documents necessary are on our Heritage web site. If you have specific scheduling or other questions for your child or children, please contact the K-8 or High School Principal directly at their e-mail addresses on our web site.
Parents looking to decide about choosing full remote learning will not have to make a final decision during registration, but a final date will be announced for next week so that details can be finalized with the educational online learning provider that the district is currently intending to contract with which other local districts are also working with. The details on the provider and remote learning plan for full remote will be posted to our web site and the final decision date will be announced shortly.
Heritage Schools has been in contact with an outside provider for after school care that may be housed using school facilities. A meeting is set to meet with the representative from the outside provider and details will be released once finalized on how parents can get information and to sign up. The outside provider will be responsible for the program and Heritage is definitely willing to provide our facilities for the program if there is enough parent interest once these details are announced. Stay tuned for further information.
The Spectrum Pre-K program is run through the RCCSEC special education consortium of which Heritage is a member. Information for Pre-K students and parents can be obtained by contacting RCCSEC at (217) 892-8877 in Champaign
IESA reversed their earlier decision on junior high sports and we will now be able to offer shortened seasons for junior high cross country for 5th-8th Graders and junior high baseball for 6th-8th graders. The first practice for cross country will be Wednesday at 5:30pm at Homer and baseball first practice will be Wednesday from 9am-11am at the field behind the school. Athletes will need a current physical and also will need to return a concussion protocol and Phase 4 Return to Play release form. The revised baseball schedule is on our web site and cross country is being worked on since the Friday IESA announcement and will updated soon.
Lastly, Heritage will be launching a new communication app for district news, events, announcements, and information through Apptegy for the new school year. This will be available through a free download for Apple and Android phones. Look for more information in the lead up to the start of school and how the district plans to use Apptegy to communicate with our parents and students in the future.
If you are receiving this message in error as a new phone database will be in use after registration, please call the main office at either school site for any phone number updates or removals.
