Heritage Schools Update Friday 3/27/2020

The next pick-up date for the Heritage Meals Plan for all K-12 students will be Monday March 30 from 8am-10am at both Heritage JH/Elementary in Homer at front doors and at Heritage HS in Broadlands at northwest new gym glass doors.  This will be for a FIVE (5) DAY food & milk distribution.

Preparation was this morning 3/27 and ready for district pick up on Monday 3/30 8am-10am.  Numbers produced for the pickup were based on the current reservations. Please E-mail either Principal for any communications or questions.

As of 12:30pm Friday 3/27, we are awaiting further instructions on Remote Constructional Days (RID) from Illinois State Board of Education.  Any major announcements, we will update our district web site, social media, and message out by e-mail.  The district submitted our E-learning Plan for RID to the Regional Office of Education this week for approval.

Some opportunities for learning at home with resources and services from ATT, message from Illinois School Boards today:

AT&T has communicated with IASB and asked that we share the following opportunities with our members. AT&T is providing free wireless data to school districts to provide to students as they adjust to learning from home. Through May 22, qualified schools (K-12, colleges, and universities) nationwide activating new lines for school-issued tablets, 4G LTE-enabled laptops, and hotspot devices will get unlimited wireless data service for free for 60 days to offer their students.

In addition, these services are being offered:

Video Conferencing Help : New customers in K-12 education, as well as healthcare and non-profit social services, can get AT&T Office@Hand Premium for free to for up to 60 days. This provides fully integrated phone, fax, messaging capabilities, and HD video conferencing for up to 100 users.

Home Internet : Expansion of low-cost options for home internet service, and Access from AT&T program for households participating in the National School Lunch Program and Head Start. Also available is two months of free service for certain customers.

Distance Learning : AT&T announced a $10 million Distance Learning and Family Connections Fund with a $1M contribution to Khan Academy to help it improve and expand online learning resources to meet the growing demand from parents, teachers, and students.

60 days of free access and unlimited usage of Caribu, a video-calling application that allows family members to read, draw, and play games with one another while at different locations.
