Illinois Pre-K-12 Public Schools Closing in Illinois March 17th-March 30th

This is Tom Davis, Heritage School District Superintendent with a message for all Heritage district students, parents, families, and employees for Friday, March 13th.

Governor Pritzker has just announced that all schools in Illinois will close beginning Tuesday March 17th until at least the end of March.  This is in continuing response to the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

The district will await guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education on what this entails for the suspension of all school attendance and activities, the closing of buildings for the duration, and the guidelines for what schools can put in place for continuing education for our students during this closure.

The Heritage School Board is scheduled to meet with the administration on Monday evening to discuss this emergency and to assess the guidance that will be forthcoming from the Illinois State Board and the Illinois and Champaign-Urbana Public Health Departments during this closure.

This is a difficult day in all of our lives and this is unprecedented action that I know will be a heavy burden on everyone in our school community.  We will continue to update our school web page at www.heritage8.org with details as they are released and we will also mirror links to those updates on our social media sites.
